The recent unemployment data is baffling. That too, the situation is too critical in the case of media industry. Five years ago (Sept’16), the media and publishing industry employed over 10.3 lakh people across India. Today (Aug’21) it employs 2.3 lakh. That means 78% of media employees have either lost their jobs or left the industry in the past five years. This is revealed by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). Where have all they gone? This is a tragedy.
