The Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry has decided to ban Malayalam news channel MediaOne citing security reasons. According to a statement from Pramod Raman, Editor MediaOne, the government has banned the channel citing security reasons and channel authorities have not received any further details regarding the ban.
Raman also added that the channel will take the legal route against the government diktat. MediaOne TV operated by Madhyamam Broadcasting Limited under Jamaat-e-Islami Kerala chapter. The channel was licensed in September 2011 and was officially launched on 10 February 2013.
This is the second time MediaOne has been banned by the I&B Ministry. In March 2020, the ministry banned MediaOne along with Asianet News for 48 hours over their “biased” coverage of the Delhi riots, stating that their reports sided “towards a particular community” among other violations of the Cable TV Act.
