Minister Srinivas Goud assures abolition of Pole Tax

Minister for Excise Prohibition, Youth Services, Sports and Tourism has assured the Cable television Industry to take the issue of pole tax to the notice of the Chief Minister Sri K. Chnadra Sekhara Rao for a favourable decision of abolishing the same. Sri Srinivasa Goud has addressed the cable television fraternity after inaugurating the 9th CableNet Expo Vision -2021 at the Hitex in Hyderabad today.
While recalling the role played by the cable industry during the Telangana movement, he has mentioned the names of many leaders from the industry. He appreciated the awareness created by the cable industry by taking the importance of the movement to every nook and corner of Telangana. He has acknowledged the fact that the industry has given employment to lakhs of people and that it will always protect its importance. The minister has also mentioned the technological developments in the cable industry.
Sri Srinivasa Goud has appealed to the cable industry to grow further by adopting to new technologies. He said that exhibitions of this sort help a lot in giving exposure and as such requested the cable fraternity to make use of such opportunities. He also specially appreciated the efforts of Mr, Ramu, Chief of CNC group, for taking all the pains to orgamise such a massive exhibition where national and international exhibitors have showcased the new technologies.
Sri Subhash Redddy, Managing Director, Brightway Communications and President, Telangana MSOs Association has presided over the inaugural function and invited the dignitaries on to the dais. While delivering his presidential address, Sri Subhash Reddy has narrated the transformation of cable television industry and the impact of digitization. Admitting that the cable operators are also changing according the times, he stressed the need for using broadband distribution as an additional revenue source. Sri Reddy appealed to the LCOs to make use of the opportunities and the new technology.
The organizer of the Expo and Chief of CNC group Sri Ramu explained the aims and objectives of organizing the CableNet Expo for the 9th time in Hyderabad. Expressing satisfaction at the attendance on the very first day of the 3-day expo, he said he is hopeful of more visitors in the next two days. Recalling the early days of cable TV, he said that those who started video cassette libraries had to shut shops after the innovative Cable Operators started using those cassettes to reach the people in their homes through their cable connection. The LCOs will also face similar closure if they do not adopt new technology and offer broadband services, he warned.
Sri Prabhakar Reddy, Honorary President of Telangana Cable Operators and MSOs Association has recollected the days when the cable industry faced teething problems during the early period. He called upon the new generation to take forward the industry with more vigor. Admitting the industry is facing an uphill task, he expressed his confidence that it will overcome all such odds.
Sri Jitendra, President, Telangana Cable Operators welfare Association has mentioned the problem of Pole Tax. He said that the problem continues to trouble the LCOs and MSOs in 5 districts even after the assurance given by the Chief Minister on abolition of Pole Tax. He has also brought to the notice of the Minister that GST has become a huge burden on the cable industry while reminding that the power subsidy to cable industry is also pending with the government. Any positive action by the government shall help the lakhs of youth dependent on the industry, said Sri Jitendra.
Sri Koti, representative of LCOs spoke on the role played by the cable industry during the Telangana Movement. The industry has played a crucial role in bringing awareness among the people on the importance of a separate state. He also reminded the minister that the cable industry has expressed its displeasure at some channels which have run certain derogatory programs hurting the feelings of the Telangana people. Keeping all this in view, he urged the minister to see that Pole Tax is abolished.
While elaborating the growth of the cable industry during the past three decades, Sri Kolla Kishore Kumar has expressed confidence that the Cable Operators will always be in the forefront to move along with the changing technologies. He has recalled those days when DD programs were also shown to people where those signals were not available. Come what may, the cable industry will adopt new technology, he asserted.
Sri Subhash Reddy has come forward to felicitate Sri Ramu, Chief of CNC group for organizing CablenEt Expo for the the 9th time keeping in view the welfare of the cable industry, On behalf of the industry, the Minister has felicitated Sri Ramu in the presence of the industry stalwarts. Sri Thota Bhavanarayana, who is instrumental in bringing awareness among the cable operators with his articles on the industry has also been felicitated by the Minister on this occasion.
Sri Manoj Dubey, Vice President, GTPL. Sri Pammi Suresh, Cable Operators; Associations chief were also present at the meeting attended by a huge gathering of cable industry representatives from many states .
