Star Maa has moved up the ladder to gain second position at the national level in television viewership. While SUN TV continues to retain its first position, Star has bagged the next rank. Star Utsav and Star plus are placed at 3rd and 4th ranks. Star Vijay and Zee Kannada are the other two channels apart from Star Maa among regional channels to be among the top 10 list.
Among the Telugu General Entertainment Channels (GECs), Star Maa continued its supremacy. Its Gross Rating Points are more than 2/3rds of the total of the other three channels, Viz Zee Telugu, ETV Telugu and Gemini TV.
Interestingly, BARC has not yet released the ratings data for the news channels even this week. Despite the fact that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has asked BARC to release news channels ratings data immediately, it is still in abeyance.
