Star Maa could successfully push back its rival Sun TV and its own parent channel Star Plus to become number one channel at the national level. As per the latest data released by Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), the only rating agency that measures the television audience in India. While Star Plus is in the 2nd place, Tamil channel Sun TV confined to 3rd position.
While Star Maa, Star Plus, Star Vijay and Star Utsav could get positions in the list of top 10 Indian channels the Star Group tally stood at 4. While Colors is in the 4th place, 2 of the Sony group channels have successfully found place in the list. Though Zee Groups parent channel Zee has failed to find place in the top ten list, its regional channels Zee Telugu and Zee Kannada continue to hold the channels mantle.
As for the Telugu channels are concerned, the Average Minute Audiences inlakhs are Star Maa ( 26.51), Zee Telugu (14.77) , ETV Telugu (14.07) , Gemini (9.43). Star Maa seems unbeatable since Zee Telugu is only 55% of Star Maa and ETV is about 53% and Gemni is a mere 36%. The recently launched Evaru Meelo Koteswarudu and Master Chef have also failed to create any remarkable impact on the viewership of Gemini TV.
