Tata Son’s Private Limited subsidiary ‘Tata Sky Limited’ is now ‘Tata Play Limited’, as per the records of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The change in the company name is in line with the imminent rebranding of Direct-to-Home (DTH) operator ‘Tata Sky’ as ‘Tata Play’. Tata Sons Private Limited additionally registered the ‘Tata Play’ trademark with IPIndia on 12th October 2021 followed by the logo being registered on 11th January 2022 in IPIndia registry.
Notably, the listing on the App Store also now mentions ‘Tata Play Limited‘ as the owner of the ‘Tata Sky’ app whereas earlier the owner was listed as ‘Tata Sky Limited’. Multiple apps on the App Store namely ‘Tata Sky – Live TV & Recharge’, ‘mServices’, ‘Tata Sky Binge’, ‘mSales’, and ‘Tata Sky Disha’ now reflect ‘Tata Play Limited’ as the app owner.
The announcement is likely to drop in by tomorrow evening as per sources in the Tata Sky distribution team.
