TV9 Telugu News channel that has been boasting to be the number one news channel in Telugu for more than one and a half-decade has dropped to second place for 5 consecutive weeks giving way to NTV to occupy the first position.
The ranks of the Telugu news channels as per the average GRPs of the past 5 weeks released by BARC are as follows: NTV (1), TV9 (2), V6 News (3), TV5 News (4), Sakshi TV (5), T. News (6), ABN Andhra Jyothi (7), 10 TV (8), HMTV (9), Mahaa News ( 10), ETV AP (11), ETV Telangana (12). I News (13), Raj News Telugu (14).
It may be recalled here that the ratings of the news channels have been stopped by the Broadcast Audience Research Council ( BARC) following the anomalies, allegations and police investigation on the alleged rigging of ratings. The Ratings for news channels have been stopped in October 2020. On the advice of the MIB, the BARC has announced its willingness to release ratings data and kept its promise today.
