As the nation weathers the second wave of the COVID- 19 outbreak, the Cable TV industry is more worried on the welfare of the staff engaged in the door to door operations. Mr. M. Subhash Reddy, President, Telangana MSOs Federation has written a letter to Sri Prakash Javadekar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting with a request to consider the Cable Industry staff as COVID warriors and give them priority in vaccination, without following any age restriction.
Mr. Reddy, in his letter, has appealed to the Minister about the services rendered by the cable industry and recalled that the selfless round the clock services during the lockdown has helped the people stay indoors watching the continuous entertainment and information provided by the channels. He has also mentioned that many cable staff lost their lives during the Corona period.
Since the Cable TV staff have not been classified as frontline workers though they are at the forefront of the battle against COVID, Mr Reddy asked the government to consider their plea. India saw its highest single-day rise of 2,17,353 COVID-19 infections, pushing the country’s tally of cases to 1,42,91,917, according to official data released on Friday.
