Certain DTH Operators and Corporate MSOs are allegedly collecting pay channel subscriptions for every 4 months instead of 30 days. The subscribers and the LCOs/Distributors are forced to pay on the basis of 4 weeks a month and as such the billing cycle is tricky. This amounted to a 9% extra on the tariff permitted by TRAI.
Mr. Mohan, President, Andhra Pradesh Multi System Operators (MSOs) Welfare association took strong objection to the mischief being played by certain DTH operators and Corporate MSOs. He has written a letter to the Chairman, TRAI highlighting the deceptive methods being followed by them. The letter has also been marked to Mr. Prakash Javadekar, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
He has noted that the broadcasters are being paid only on a 30 day basis while collection is on a 28-day cycle which is detrimental to the interests of the subscribers and LCOs. Mr. Mohan has requested TRAI to see that the DPOs strictly adhere to the tariff and collect subscription on a 30-day (calender month ) basis and not on a 4 week (28-day) basis.
