YuppTV, an OTT provider, is seemingly entering the Cable TV market with MSO license granted on 28th July, 2020 which is valid for 10 years. Though it has a reasonably good name in its own field, the sudden move to enter into Cable TV market is seriously talked about in the industry. It is one of the 17 Digital MSO applicants cleared by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the month of July, 2020 and published on 4th July.

So far YuppTV has been a content aggregator offering more than 250+ TV channels, 5000+ Movies and 100+ TV Shows in 14 languages. It boasts of having 25000 hours of entertainment content catalogued in its library, while nearly 2500 hours of new on-demand content is added to its platform every day. It has also launched Yupp Master to offer online classes for IIT JEE and NEET candidates.

Making the best use of technology growth and advancement, YuppTV enables its consumers to experience the convenience of virtual home entertainment anytime, anywhere, through multiple screens – Connected TVs, Internet STBs, Smart Blu-ray Player, PCs, Smart Phones and Tablets.

Yupp TV’s intentions are not yet known. If it wants to launch a cable channel, it doesn’t need a license. Entering into Cable industry means it has to go into the market aggressively on a buying spree and convince the LCOs. This is in fact, an uphill task in an already saturated market. Now it is to be seen as to what strategy the new Digital MSO is going to adopt to enter into the already crowded cable market.
